Large images can effect your google ranking!
It’s bizarre, but it’s true. Large images on a website can slow down page load speeds and effect your google SEO ranking. One of the metrics which Google use to determine the rank of your website is how fast your website loads. If you have a slow website load speed then Google will penalize you and lower your search ranking.
It makes sense when you think about it. Google is offering a service to its users and only wants to send people to websites that have fast load times, providing a positive experience (so that they keep using Google). This is why your website’s page speed is so important.
The issue is that often people load unnecessarily large images into their websites with out even knowing. Because each of the images need to be downloaded individually through a user’s browser, large image can significantly slow down your overall page load time.
The solution is to reduce the sizes of your images down, we call this image compression. 300kb is a good size for a large image on a website. If you have images larger than 300kb you could be slowing down your website and lowering your rank!
