Geelong web meetupIf you're a web designer or are interested in web technologies and social networking tools, join the Geelong Web Technology Meetup Group and come along to the next get-together.

A loose connection of web designers and users from the Geelong region have gathered informally a few times over the last 12 months for a good time discussing our passions and learning from each other. We're now getting slightly more organised and plan to get together regularly, every month or so.

I've stepped up to take over organising and sponsoring the group using meetup.com, so if you want to get updates and reminders, join our meetup and then come along - we'd love to see you!

You don't have to be a web designer or twitterer, there's people who run web-based businesses or are interested in new technology in general.

The last gathering we had was at the Edge bar opposite the waterfront in Geelong, we chatted for a couple of hours over drinks, talking twitter, PHP, freelancing, projects we're working on and more.

I love it because a few of the people who come along are early technology adopters and are very into web technologies, and it brings me out of my utilitarian shell. I joined Twitter yesterday, only two years after it's cool. (I'm still unsure whether my past prejudices against it are going to be overcome long-term...)

See you there!
